Ernie is not just any cat: he is a survivor who has overcome great odds. I first met Ernie when he was just a kitten, living in a drain pipe. He was rescued by the wonderful folks at Tucson Cares, who told me he was found just one night before a big storm. Ernie was semi-feral, so it took some time for him to get used to humans. But over time, he began to warm up to us and allowed us to show him some affection.
We adopted him after long-term fostering. Just three months later, he fell ill and was diagnosed with Ocular FIP. We were heartbroken and didn't know if Ernie was going to make it. But Ernie is a fighter, and with the help of our vet and the FIP support team, he battled the disease and ultimately beat it.
Today, Ernie is fully cured and living his best life with us. He enjoys playing with his toys, napping in the sunshine, and cuddling up with his best friend, Pepper. He's had a hard life, but he's a survivor, and we're so grateful to have him in our family.
Remy is a special cat who holds a special place in my heart. I met her when she was surrendered to our local shelter, Pima Animal Care Center, diagnosed with dry neuro FIP. Her condition was serious; she suffered from hind end paralysis, severely limiting her mobility.
I felt compelled to help Remy, so I took her in as my foster and started her treatment. Against the odds, she made a remarkable recovery. Now, Remy can walk, run, and even jump, despite a slight sway in her gait from her residual hind end weakness. She may need assistance with bladder expression for life, but she's a joyful cat who loves to play and cuddle.
Remy will remain with us as my 'forever foster,' staying in our home for the rest of her life. She's endured a lot, and I can't imagine not being by her side. I'm grateful for the chance to have aided her, and I am immensely proud of her for overcoming such a difficult disease
